1976: 9-24, keith's bouncing off the walls, the band is tripping all over themselves, in the best way possible. Good all around. http://www.archive.org/details/gd76-09-24.aud.unknown.16901.sbeok.shnf (Also this entire show is awesome and the AUD is flawless)
1977: Agree w/clementine: 11-06-77 takes its time and gets to some cool places. http://www.archive.org/details/gd1977-11-06.mtx.seamons.92273.sbeok.flac16
1978: 4-24. Whew. The part with words? Whatever. The jam part? Man. Hot stuff, and nice Phil in the McCaw mix: http://www.archive.org/details/gd1978-04-24.sbd.mccaw.3296.shnf

I like all three of these very much.

Dunno about a favorite, but to me, that's a song where I really miss Donna when I don't hear her.

edit: Wow, just listened to 11/6/77, and that's sure going to be hard to beat!

7/17/89:

I find this one really haunting. Most are good from this era I think but this one (from fallout from the phil zone) is really special.

You beat me to it with this one (1989-07-17).

The one that Phil chose for "Fallout From The Phil Zone" was a real eye-opener when the set first appeared. There's probably loads that are better, but we're spoilt for choice now (and weren't then...).

And thanks bluedevil for reminding me of the "Grateful Dead Projects" - a fun resource.

I'm suprised that this has been up nearly a whole day without anyone calling out this one:

The most earth shattering closing jam in TMNS history. No question for me though I'm sure opinions vary.

not a fan of this show, but it has quite possibly the best TMNS ever - heavy metal funk is the way i would describe it:

Holy shit. I'm sure I've heard this, but I must not have been listening. Jerry's guitar playing is absolutely brilliant. Like, even for him.
